Eli Manning’s football genes may have been lying dormant but they are certainly awake now. He has sure validated his name and revitalized his floundering NFL career and shutting up negative criticism. But when one wears a name like Manning, football excellence and greatness is expected. Just when everyone may have been wondering about the legitamacy of his genes, he proves without a doubt that he is a true Manning. His brother Peyton, Indianapolis Colts 2007 Super Bowl Champion and MVP was the jubilant cheerleader in his spectator role. Eli’s father, Archie Manning – a former NFL quarterback, couldn’t have been prouder although he was quite reserved about it as he enjoyed his double stuffed oreo cookies. I guess Super Bowl victories are becoming the norm especially back to back Manning Super Bowl MVPs.

Archibald “Archie” Manning, born May 19, 1949 in Drew, Mississippi, is a former NFL quarterback. He is the father of 2007 Super Bowl MVP, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, 2008 Super Bowl MVP, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, and former Ole Miss receiver, Cooper Manning.

Peyton Manning is the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and was the first selection in the 1998 NFL Draft. He attended the University of Tennessee. He led the Colts to a 29-17 victory in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears on February 4, 2007 for which he won the Super Bowl MVP Award.

Eli Manning, youngest Manning quarterback, is the starting quarterback of the New York Giants and was the first overall selection in the 2004 NFL Draft. Like his father, he attended Ole Miss and played as the Rebels’ starting quarterback. Manning and the Giants defeated the heavily-favored and then undefeated New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008 for which he won the Super Bowl MVP Award.

New York Giants upset the Mighty New England Patriots 17-14. It’s was like a scene out of the Bible except Topsey Turvy with the New York Giants the major underdogs as David, the Patriots as the Giant Goliath and Eli Manning as the five little rocks. The Giants hadn’t won a Super Bowl since 1991. Seventeen must be their lucky number.

According to the Associated Press:

Super Bowl XLII had largely been dictated by the Giants defensive dominanc: throughout the first three quarters of the game. Tom Brady was sacked five times and knocked down several more times as his offensive line was largely unable to handle the Giants’ blitz. The Giants thoroughly outplayed the Patriots in this game and this was where it started.

Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora hounded and hit Brady from start to finish, limiting the NFL’s all-time best offense to just two touchdowns in a stunning 17-14 victory that will go down as one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.

The 14 points were a season low for New England that was looking for a place in history.

The Giants didn’t lose because Eli Manning led a game-winning 12-play, 83-yard drive that he capped with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Burress, of course.

The New York Giants took the whole kitten caboodle and stole the heart of the angel too. The Giants took home the Lombardy Trophy and Eli Manning was awarded the Pete Rozelle Trophy for being named, and also received the keys to a 2009 Cadillac Escalade hybrid car.

Tom Brady has won three Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX), two Super Bowl MVP awards (XXXVI and XXXVIII).

The New England Patriots is once again heading to the Super bowl  led by quarterback Tom Brady who won his first NFL MVP award, throwing for a career high 4,806 yards and an NFL record 50 touchdowns (which was 22 more than his previous best season), and just eight interceptions. His passer rating of 117.2 was the second-highest season rating in NFL history.

Statistically, Brady did not fare as well in the AFC Championship Game against the San Diego Chargers, throwing three interceptions (including his first interception in the red zone since the playoff loss to Denver). Nevertheless, the Patriots won their 18th game of the season, 21-12, to advance to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven seasons. Brady, with the 100th win of his career, also set an NFL record for the fewest games needed by a starting quarterback to do so: his 100-26 record is 16 games better than Joe Montana’s.

The New England Patriots have been anything but flawless in their games but they are living proof that a man does not have to be perfect to be very, very good. They are 18-0 and are hoping to complete their perfect run with a win at the Super Bowl on February 3,2007 in Phoenix, Arizona It is always an optimistic existence when we know  we can always do better or this world would be a very sad place.  It is why the human mind cannot fathom the reality of heaven. Perfection is where God is so if we are always striving toward  God we are on the right track and will always be winners.

The Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady will be competing in their fourth Super Bowl since the 2001 season, were already billed as one of the greatest teams in NFL history. They compiled a perfect 16-0 record (the first team to go undefeated since the NFL expanded the regular season to 16 games in 1978), and set NFL records with 589 points scored (an average of 36.8 points per game), and a net differential of +315 points (they gave up 274 points, fourth best in the league). The Patriots continued to set NFL records on their road to the Super Bowl. First, Brady set the NFL record for completion percentage (92.9%) with 26 of 28 completions for 268 yards and three touchdowns in their 31-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round, while safety Rodney Harrison tied an NFL record by recording an interception in his fourth consecutive postseason game.

One week later, the Patriots defeated the San Diego Chargers 21-12. Although Brady threw three interceptions in the game, the Patriots defense forced two turnovers and limited San Diego to four field goals, while Maroney rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown for the second game in a row.

The New York Giants improbable run to the Super Bowl XLII was more like your fairy Godmother showing up at the last minute and sprinkling the magic fairy dust.  Tinkerbell must have to busy oogling Peter Pan to remember she was on duty.  Lucky for Eli Manning that the head fairy mother had scolded Tinkerbell the day before so  she was paying attention the next day.  She may not have had time to do all that it takes to win the game but she did do enough to spark a jolt of lightening into him.  Such a difference is what Super Bowl games are made of.

The New York Giants are the third NFL team ever to advance to the Super Bowl by winning three playoff games on the road. After beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-14, the Giants upset the #1 seeded Dallas Cowboys 21-17 to advance to the NFC Championship. They set the record for most consecutive road wins (10 with the NFC championship as of now) and as the first team to defeat the #1 seed of their division since the 1990 playoff re-alignment. With a 23-20 overtime win over the Packers in Green Bay they head to Super bowl XLII where they hope to foil a replay of their last encounter with the New England Patriots.

For the second consecutive year a Manning Quarterback has led his team to the Super Bowl [*and won 17-14 over the New England Patriots(2-3-2008). Eli Manning and the New York Giants are the Super Bowl 2008 Champions.]

Last year Peyton Manning, the current quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts led the Colts to a 29-17 victory in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears on February 4, 2007. He also won the Super Bowl MVP Award.

Eli Manning, Peyton’s younger brother, is currently the starting quarterback of the New York Giants and was the first overall selection in the 2004 NFL Draft. Like his father,Archie Manning, he attended Ole Miss and played as the Rebels’ starting quarterback. He recently completed his fourth NFL season, in which he led the Giants to an NFC title (2007), and three straight playoff appearances (2005, 2006, 2007).

Eli Manning and the Giants advanced to Super Bowl XLII after defeating the Green Bay Packers 23-20 in overtime on January 20, 2008 to win the NFC Championship game.

Eli hopes to repeat his brother’s feat but that road may prove to be most difficult with the undefeated New England Patriots waiting on the other side.

Eli Manning of the New York Giants got a wake up call on December 29, 2009, though losing to New England Patriot 38 – 35 managed to validate his name and his legacy.

Eli Manning was struggling through the regular season until the last game of the season,December 29, 2007, against the 15-0 New England Patriots. The Giants lost 38-35, but Manning played exceptionally well, completing 22 of 32 passes for 251 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception.

On January 6, 2008, Manning went 20-of-27 for 185 yards playing on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The underdog Giants won 24-14, and Manning had two touchdown passes.

On January 13, 2008, Eli led the Giants to an upset victory over the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys, the number one seed in the NFC. For the third straight game, Manning played well, completing 12 of 18 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. The Giants were the first team to beat an NFC number one seed in the divisional round since the start of the 12-team format in 1990. This victory secured an NFC Championship berth against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 20, 2008. In the championship game, the Giants beat the Packers in overtime, with a score of 23-20. The dramatic victory secured Manning and the Giants a trip to Super Bowl XLII to face the New England Patriots on more time. What will Eli Manning do this time?

This was the first Super Bowl appearance for the New York Giants since 2000.

Super Bowl Sunday is gearing up to be quite a rumble in Arizona. The New York Giants trying to pull off Grand theft Auto. But I think the Security details of the New England Patriots may be above par preventing Football’s top prize from being swiped from their grasp. The Super Bowl is in the Patriots’ safe all locked away and all they have to do is to turn the combination to get at the prize inside. But beware because the New York Giants may just be the sleeping “Putty Cat” that got woken up on December 29th, 2007, when they lost to the Patriot 38 -35. Eli Manning must have seen a spirit that jolted him into action. Do you think Tom Brady is trembling in his boots, a hurt boot presumably or just psychological wrangling.

Godspeed
